Even though Grand Theft Auto VI pre-orders are officially live, Trailer 3 and a proper, in-depth gameplay breakdown are still nowhere in sight. As Rockstar Games maintains its trademark radio silence, frustration across the community is hitting a boiling point—and many fans are giving up hope on seeing any new updates before July wraps up.
Early Summer Has Come and Gone
The silence feels especially loud considering earlier promises. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick previously mentioned in an interview with Variety that the promotional campaign for GTA 6 would kick off in early summer 2026. Fast forward to today: we’re nearly a month past the official start of summer, and aside from pre-orders going live and a handful of new screenshots, fans haven’t been given much to chew on.
Over on Reddit, patience is rapidly wearing thin. One of the top-upvoted comments in a recent thread sums up the general mood perfectly:
“Their marketing is very weird and honestly annoying.”

Many players find it bizarre that Rockstar is already accepting money for pre-orders without having released a third trailer or a dedicated gameplay showcase. As Reddit user u/JohnKowalsky88 joked, fans currently know more about what comes in the Ultimate Edition than they do about the actual game itself.
Method to the Madness?
Despite the mounting annoyance, plenty of gamers understand Rockstar’s tight-lipped strategy. The reality is simple: GTA 6 is the biggest talking point in the entire gaming industry, with or without an active ad campaign.
Some community members suspect Rockstar is biding its time, waiting to drop one massive, internet-breaking marketing push alongside Trailer 3 before letting fan speculation and community hype carry the momentum the rest of the way.
Don’t Hold Your Breath for July
If you’re refreshing Rockstar’s social feeds every hour, you might want to take a breather. The prevailing theory on Reddit is that the radio silence will drag on through the rest of July.
That theory is backed up by prominent gaming insider Tom Henderson. In his view, Take-Two has very little incentive to drop Trailer 3 too early:
Short-Term Buzz: A new trailer dominates the news cycle for a few days, but the demand for more info instantly takes its place.
Strategic Timing: Holding off keeps the grand reveal closer to launch, maximizing impact.
Henderson speculates we might not see anything new until mid-to-late August—a timeline that makes a lot of sense. Releasing a massive gameplay showcase closer to late summer gives Take-Two the perfect runway to build unstoppable momentum without exhausting the hype train too early.
Until then, all we can do is wait, speculate, and keep staring at those few screenshots.
