Y’all, the wait is finally over—well, the wait for info, at least. On Wednesday, Rockstar blew the doors wide open on Grand Theft Auto 6, dropping a massive info dump that answers the biggest question on everyone’s minds: How much is this thing going to cost us?
Alongside the price tag, we got the lowdown on the Ultimate Edition, pre-order bonuses, a controversial physical release strategy, and a staggering 60+ new screenshots that prove this will easily be the most stylish game of the year.
To help you digest the flurry of news ahead of the game’s November 19, 2026 launch, here is everything we just learned.
💰 The $80 Pill We Have to Swallow
After months of wild speculation, Rockstar put the pricing rumors to bed. GTA 6 will cost $79.99 for the Standard Edition.
Yes, the $80 game era is officially creeping up on us. While a few others have tried to break past the $70 ceiling—like Mario Kart World (which was heavily subsidized by Switch 2 bundles) or The Outer Worlds 2 (which backtracked after fan outrage)—GTA 6 might be the only game on the planet with enough clout to actually pull this off.
It’s going to be fascinating to see how heavy hitters like Sony, Xbox, EA, and Ubisoft react. If GTA 6 succeeds at $80, expect the rest of the industry to follow suit.
🏎️ Ultimate Edition & Pre-Order Bonuses
If you feel like dropping even more cash, the Ultimate Edition will retail for $99.99. For the extra twenty bucks, Rockstar promises an “exclusive collection of premium vehicles, weapons, apparel, and action around every corner.” The twist? These items won’t be handed to you on day one; you’ll unlock them progressively throughout the game.
The “Vintage Vice City” Pre-Order Pack
If you buy the game before November 20, you’ll score some remarkably old-school cosmetics for protagonists Lucia and Jason. The pack includes:
-
The ’55 Vapie Stainier car
-
Retro clothing and hairstyle options
-
A tropical weapon pattern
-
One free month of GTA Plus (Rockstar’s subscription service)
Pro Tip: Pre-orders officially go live on Thursday, June 25. But since the Vintage Vice City pack is available all the way up until launch day, there’s no real reason to rush. You can safely wait for reviews to drop, pre-load the game on November 12, and still get your bonuses.
💿 The “Physical” Release (Without a Disc)
Physical media collectors, brace yourselves: GTA 6 will not ship on a disc.
Instead, the physical edition sitting on store shelves will simply contain a digital download code in a box. The silver lining? Buying the physical box lets you grab your code a week early so you can participate in the November 12 pre-load phase.
Why ditch the disc? It likely comes down to sheer size. A standard PS5 disc tops out at 100 GB. With games like Baldur’s Gate 3 already pushing multi-disc releases, GTA 6 might easily clear 200 GB. Rather than shipping a three-disc box set, Rockstar is opting for the digital route.
🧍 Is GTA Online Dead? GTA 6 Launches as Single-Player Only
According to the official PlayStation and Xbox store pages, “Grand Theft Auto 6 is a single-player experience.”
This leaves a massive question mark over the future of Grand Theft Auto Online, which has been a money-printing machine since 2013. Will Rockstar launch an entirely new standalone “GTA Online 2” set in the new map? Or will the current GTA Online simply get a massive Vice City-themed update? For now, we are firmly in wait-and-see mode.
📸 A First Look at Vice City Style
While we didn’t get a third trailer, Rockstar fed us well with 63 new screenshots.
The fresh images showcase deep character customization, featuring Lucia and Jason in various outfits and hairstyles. We also got looks at a barrage of new muscle cars, motorcycles, and—because this is a fictionalized Florida—the duo chilling on luxury boats. It looks stunning.
📅 The Final Countdown: Is It Really Coming This Year?
As of right now, yes! After being delayed twice before (moving from Fall 2025 to May 2026, and finally to November), the November 19, 2026 release date seems locked in.
Keep in mind, PC players will have to wait. In classic Rockstar fashion, the game is strictly confirmed for PS5 and Xbox Series X at launch. PC players will likely have to wait a year or more for their port.
But for console players, the finish line is in sight. In just under five months, we’ll be causing absolute chaos in modern-day Vice City. Let the countdown begin!
