Interesting connection of GTA 6 and Red Dead Redemption

Rockstar Games fans are diving deep into the latest GTA VI trailer, uncovering potential clues that suggest a link to Red Dead Redemption.

With less than a year remaining until the release of Rockstar’s highly anticipated addition to the Grand Theft Auto series, the excitement is reaching new heights.

On May 6, 2025, Rockstar unveiled the second trailer for GTA VI, sparking a wave of fan theories and analysis. The trailer, visually stunning and packed with detail, has left fans eagerly awaiting a third—whenever that may arrive.

If you’ve been keeping up with GTA VI updates, you’ve likely seen the wave of speculation about its possible ties to Red Dead Redemption. One theory in particular has caught the community’s attention.

“It looks like GTA VI and Red Dead Redemption 2 might be in the same universe,” suggested Reddit user mhu99.

They posted side-by-side images comparing weapons from the GTA VI trailer with those in Red Dead Redemption 2, both showcasing branding from ‘Duke,’ a gunsmith featured in Rockstar’s Western franchise.

While the overlap might be coincidental, some fans believe it’s too deliberate to ignore. The appearance of Duke-branded items in both franchises has many convinced they share a connected universe.

“It’ll probably be like GTA V and RDR2—loosely referenced with no real significance beyond that,” speculated atomicitalian.

“Loosely is a bit of an understatement, no?” replied Lewis-1230. “Like, there are probably 30–50 RDR details in GTA. It seems too convenient and planned out.”

Still, not everyone is convinced. As Redditor yeetskeetleet pointed out, “Here’s something that debunks this. There are a lot of brands that are shared between GTA III, Vice City, San Andreas, GTA IV and GTA V. Sprunk and Binco are two examples. The PS2 and PS3 games are not in the same universe and have been officially confirmed as such.”

Regardless of whether the connection is real or just a fun Easter egg, fans are sure to keep uncovering hidden details as the GTA VI launch approaches.

Grand Theft Auto VI is slated for release on May 26, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. A PC release date has yet to be announced.
