On the GTA 6 Reddit page, one series fan shared their belief that the upcoming game teaser will showcase actual gameplay instead of just cutscenes or pre-rendered in-engine footage.
Rockstar Games has already released two trailers, several screenshots, and even confirmed a release date for Grand Theft Auto 6. Still, there’s much that remains unknown. Chief among fan desires is seeing genuine gameplay. As of now, everything shown appears to be in-engine footage rather than a direct look at how the game plays.
“We all saw that the communication for GTA VI has been way different from the past ones,” their post reads. “No one was expecting 70 screenshots alongside with trailer 2… I have a feeling that we could get something else than just a simple trailer. This is only my opinion and let’s see what awaits us in a few weeks.”
Another user agreed, predicting: “More screenshots around Christmas and gameplay trailer in January.”
However, not everyone shared that optimism. One fan countered: “Too early for that IMO – I think they’ll just give us two character trailers for J&L and another website update.”
Others pointed out that Rockstar’s marketing strategy hasn’t actually changed much. “The marketing hasn’t been any different in terms of style or timing,” one wrote. “The website and 70 screenshots, I think, align with this being the biggest game of all time. and is simply exaggeration of how Rockstar usually markets their games. There isn’t anything to read into here for me.”
With an estimated 2025 release window, Rockstar debuted its first trailer in December 2023. The studio then remained silent for over a year before unveiling a second teaser and new screenshots earlier this year—alongside an updated release date of May 26, 2026.
It’s possible another trailer could arrive before the end of the year, ideally offering a better glimpse of the game’s actual mechanics and world. This period might also mark the beginning of pre-orders.
While some fans worry about another potential delay, there’s currently no evidence to support that concern. Despite pre-orders not yet being available, anticipation remains sky-high.
Rockstar has yet to confirm the exact launch date or price, but expectations are that GTA 6 will shatter sales records regardless. For now, fans remain united in excitement as they await the chance to finally pre-order Grand Theft Auto 6.
