Fans of Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 6 were left disappointed when the much-anticipated “moon theory” failed to deliver on its promise of a second trailer release on November 22.
The viral theory, which gained traction on social media earlier this month, speculated that Rockstar Games would unveil the next trailer on this date. The idea was based on a specific moon phase, the “Waning Gibbous,” which was visible in GTA Online on November 4. Enthusiasts noted its similarity to an event preceding the first trailer’s release last year, fueling expectations for a repeat occurrence.
However, November 22 came and went without any updates from Rockstar Games or its parent company, Take-Two Interactive. Fans, hoping for news about the sixth installment of the iconic franchise, were left in limbo.
To date, the only trailer for GTA 6 was released on December 4, 2023. Earlier this year, Take-Two Interactive confirmed that the game is slated for a Fall 2025 release. Despite concerns over potential delays to 2026, the company has reiterated its commitment to the original timeline.
“Many exciting new titles are coming in Fiscal 2026—including GTA 6 in the Fall, Borderlands 4, and Mafia: The Old Country. We are confident in creating long-term value for our shareholders,” Take-Two stated during its last earnings call.
Although fans expressed frustration over the lack of new updates, the game remains on schedule, according to official statements.
