If things continue like this, players might just end up creating the sixth installment of the game before it’s even officially released. One modder’s design is particularly impressive.
To say that Grand Theft Auto fans are desperate is an understatement. Rockstar has been tight-lipped about their latest production, with the December announcement still being the only material they’ve shared so far. The situation has become so “serious” that fans are scouring American job listings for any potential clues—even though some of those postings are no longer active.
Despite the lack of official files, modders are undeterred. One of them is hand-drawing a replica of the Vice City map.
“We’ve got a remake of GTA 6 before GTA 6 even comes out.”
The creator behind this ambitious project goes by the handle ricksef, also known as RickRick on Discord, who specializes in map creation. As his name suggests, he’s working on recreating Vice City as seen in the first trailer for GTA 6.
To ensure accuracy, RickRick is using data from Google Earth, leaks, and, of course, screenshots from the trailer. He admits it will be incredibly difficult to create a 100% faithful recreation of Vice City, but players appreciate his efforts. Some have even joked that modders will end up making GTA 6 before Rockstar does.
The final slide in RickRick’s post highlights the sheer size of Vice City. By examining the tops of the skyscrapers, it’s clear that the setting of the sixth installment is going to offer a lot. Meanwhile, the wait for Rockstar’s next release has been longer than ever. The studio has broken its own record—GTA 6 will arrive seven years after the release of their last major title, Red Dead Redemption 2. So, how long have you been waiting?
